Favorite Flip Flops

Let’s talk about flip flops : )

For at least six months out of the year, I spend most of my time in flip flops when I’m not wearing racing shoes.  So, in my mind, it’s really important to have good flip flops.  And, I might suggest having more than just ONE pair — just a suggestion 😉 .  For a long time, I wore Reef flip flops and loved them.  They are comfortable, inexpensive, and the foam footbed molds to your foot.  However, they don’t have a

ton of arch support, and my feet slipped side ways out of them when the footbeds got wet.

My search for the perfect flip flop then lead my to try on Olukai and Chacos.  I had heard good things about both — quality construction, good guarantee, plenty of arch support.  For me, I felt like the Olukai Paniolo fit  best — and I liked the design of the stitching on the footbed.  I’ve had that pair for two years, and have definitely gotten

my money’s worth out of them.  You can even get them resoled.  However, I had stretched mine out enough that I wanted to get a new pair that fit really tight — and I wanted to try a new color.

I’ve heard both good and bad things about the Rainbow brand.  However, I’ve never tried them myself.Friends review them by saying anything ranging from:

  • they fit great and mold to their feet well or
  • they are too stiff and rub uncomfortably

Sanuk seems to be another well regarded brand.  But honestly, I’ve been so happy with Olukai that I haven’t looked any further.
