So, Where Did That Logo Come From?

You may be wondering where the Race Girl Talk and Race Girl Race logos have come from.  Well, here’s the story just in case you need to put your mind at ease.  RaceGirl partnered with Shaun Boland for creation of the RaceGirlTalk and RaceGirlRace logos.  Shaun is a talented graphic designer and cartoonist who writes the cartoon Bol’s Eye.  It’s pretty hilarious – if you want some light hearted humor, you can check it out at www.bolseye.com

Shaun took time to learn about the story behind the RaceGirl blog (RaceGirlTalk) and soon to be launched web site (RaceGirlRace) which will sell related products.  He used that background to propose a series of possible designs.  In the process of developing the logo, Shaun provided multiple images intended to depict an image that represented the strong confident edgy side of female sailboat racers.

There were many iterations that lead to the final logos that were chosen.  Shaun should be praised for his patience listening to endless stories about the fun of racing and being on the water.  Friends, family, and co-workers deserve credit too for providing support and feedback after many rounds of “what do you think?”

The logos both feature a sail and waves design that forms the A in Race or Talk depending on the logo.    Shaun’s creativity resulted in waves which can also represent the silhouette of a woman’s figure.  Here they are:

There are two other images that you will see used throughout the site, as well.  One is the simplified wind and waves image (you can find this used in the favicon next to the web site name in your browser).

The last logo is one that I just liked.  It includes the same sail graphic, but pairs it with a graphic for wind.
